Situated in an iconic building in midtown Manhattan—known as the first green skyscraper in the country—Venable’s New York office demonstrates the firm’s commitment to the city, to exceptional client service, and to the highest environmental standards.
Venable first entered the New York market in 2005 when it combined with Heard & O’Toole, a commercial litigation firm. The New York office has continued to grow steadily by expanding its service offering and improving capabilities in practice areas where we can help our clients thrive. Following the addition of a real estate group focused on construction, land use, and development in 2012, our combination with Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto, one of the world’s leading technology firms, in 2018, and the addition of a construction law group in 2020, we are now one of the largest law firms in the city. Our presence in the heart of Manhattan cements our commitment to New York and its broader community; has strengthened our ability to support local charities and nonprofits through our philanthropic arm, the Venable Foundation; and allows us to continue providing top-notch pro bono legal services to individuals and organizations facing hardship.
Our New York-based attorneys bring energy and depth to several key practice areas: commercial litigation; real estate; construction; labor and employment; employee benefits; complex business transactions; advertising; internal and regulatory investigations; technology transactions; intellectual property protection and litigation; class action defense; bankruptcy and creditors’ rights; private wealth planning; and product liability and mass torts.
We often partner across these practice areas within the New York office and have developed cohesive relationships with colleagues in Washington, DC, Maryland, Illinois, Florida, Virginia, and California. By drawing on the special skills and talents of the firm nationwide, we bring efficiencies and substantial resources to New York legal matters, while providing the feel and responsiveness of a service-centered boutique.
