Matthew W.J. Webb is counsel in Venable's Product Liability and Mass Torts Practice in the Baltimore office. He has represented major pharmaceutical and medical device companies in multiple product liability actions in state and federal courts, including assisting in the national defense of claims related to both medications and medical devices. In addition, he has conducted and defended depositions of plaintiffs, medical providers, and expert witnesses, and acted as senior associate at jury trials in Pennsylvania State Court. Matthew has also represented monoline insurers in litigation arising out of mortgage-backed securities transactions; defended a corporate board in a derivative action brought by shareholders; and defended a CEO in litigation related to a senior executive's employment contract.
Matthew is a 2010 graduate of Fordham University School of Law. While in law school, he served as an intern at the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, Appeals Bureau in New York and was an intern for the Honorable Theodore H. Katz, Magistrate Judge in the Southern District of New York. Before attending law school, he was an editor for NIDA's Science & Practice Perspectives and the production editor for the Journal of General Physiology and the Journal of Cell Biology.
