Los Angeles, CA – January 27, 2015 - Venable LLP is pleased to announce that seven of its California based attorneys have been elevated to Counsel. In Los Angeles, the new Counsel include Celeste M. Brecht, Elizabeth R. Glasgow, Jeffrey K. Logan, Edward J. Loya, Jr., Bret P. Siciliano and Kathy L. Wunderli. Kimberly Culp was elevated to Counsel in the San Francisco office.

Below is background on Venable's new Counsel:
Celeste M. Brecht’s practice focuses on complex civil litigation. She has been a member of multiple trial teams in both state and federal court, and has obtained successful jury verdicts for her clients. Additionally, Ms. Brecht has won numerous dispositive motions in advance of trial and has managed cases from inception through post-verdict motions involving commercial business disputes, employment matters, as well as products and premises liability cases for clients ranging in size from regional business entities to Fortune 50 companies.
Kimberly Culp litigates high stakes and complex commercial and intellectual property matters in Venable’s Litigation Group. Ms. Culp has successfully represented and counseled clients in state and federal court in all aspects of litigation, including trial preparation, depositions and discovery, law and motion practice, settlement negotiations, mediation and trial. Ms. Culp has served as second chair in bench and jury trial teams, as well as at arbitration and before state agencies. She has also had primary responsibility for matters before state agencies, including in an agency trial.
Elizabeth R. Glasgow concentrates her practice on trusts and estate and wealth management, where she provides clients with conventional and advanced strategies for wealth preservation through the mitigation of income, estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer taxes. Her experience includes tailoring wealth preservation techniques for both high-net worth individuals and closely-held business entities. Ms. Glasgow also assists clients in developing charitable gifting strategies through the formation and maintenance of tax-exempt organizations.
Jeffrey K. Logan is a business litigator concentrating on intellectual property, entertainment and probate litigation. Mr. Logan litigates matters involving copyright, trademark, right of publicity, trade secret and unfair competition claims. He also has extensive experience in royalty suits, commercial contract disputes and trust and estate litigation. Mr. Logan's practice includes representing entertainers, producers, managers, executives and other professionals or entities in the entertainment, multimedia and toy industries.
Edward J. Loya, Jr. is a member of Venable's Commercial Litigation and Investigations and White Collar Defense Practice Groups who focuses on complex civil business litigation and represents companies and individuals in investigations, prosecutions and regulatory matters nationwide. Mr. Loya previously served as a federal prosecutor in the Public Integrity Section of the Criminal Division of the U.S. Department of Justice where on a nationwide basis he successfully handled investigations and prosecutions of elected, appointed and career officials at all levels of government. An accomplished and highly regarded trial attorney, he has successfully conducted more than twenty criminal jury and bench trials in courts throughout the country.
Bret P. Siciliano of the Corporate Group focuses his practice on general corporate matters, mergers and acquisitions, private placements, joint ventures, dissolutions, intellectual property licensing and real estate transactions. He has significant experience in drafting, structuring and negotiating merger agreements, licensing agreements, employment agreements, operating agreements, stock purchase agreements, real estate purchase agreements, commercial leases and joint venture agreements. Mr. Siciliano also helps clients in the formation and operation of corporations, limited liability companies and partnerships.
Kathy L. Wunderli practices in the areas of tax, estate planning, probate and trust administration, tax-exempt organizations and marital agreements. Ms. Wunderli focuses her estate planning practice on structuring and implementing comprehensive estate plans for high net-worth individuals and their families. Moreover, she advises trustees and personal representatives with respect to the administration of trusts and estates. In addition to her estate planning practice, Ms. Wunderli has significant experience drafting and negotiating premarital and post marital agreements. Ms. Wunderli also advises public charities and private foundations regarding formation and maintenance of tax-exempt status.
These seven attorneys were among 31 across Venable's California, Maryland, New York, Virginia and Washington, DC offices promoted to Counsel.
