An April 19, 2010 story in Law360 reported that Kinder Morgan Energy Company subsidiary SFPP LP has proposed settlements to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to resolve rate challenges from shippers using the interstate petroleum products pipeline which transports product in the states of California, Oregon, Nevada, Arizona, and Texas.

SFPP LP submitted the settlements to the FERC on Friday, April 16, 2010 and once approved, the company anticipates paying a total of approximately $205 million to the shippers. The settlements would resolve 31 cases involving 11 of 12 shippers who had either taken issue with the rate hikes or filed complaints against existing rates.

Venable clients Valero Marketing and Supply Co, US Airways, Inc., Continental Airlines, Inc., Northwest Airlines, Inc., and Southwest Airlines Co. are among the 11 shippers involved in the settlements.
