Venable’s recent announcement of the launch of the Small Business Coalition for Fair Contracting received coverage in the legal and contracting trade press, including stories in the Washington Technology, Federal Times, and the Blog of the Legal Times.
Venable partners Rob Burton and Paul Debolt created the coalition to educate policy makers and legislators about the unintended consequences of the Obama Administration’s new in-sourcing initiative and ensure that small contractors are not disproportionately harmed by the federal government’s push to bring more work in-house.
"Many agencies will be tempted to overclassify jobs as critical," Burton, who a senior federal procurement official in the Bush administration before joining Venable, told Federal Times. "Those agency choices are not victimless. Small businesses are already feeling the impact of those choices."
