The April 15, 2012 edition of Class Action Law Monitor featured Venable’s recent victory on behalf of the Synapse Group before the Third Circuit. Synapse was being sued for allegedly sending out deceptive renewal notices to customers. The court agreed that the plaintiffs lacked standing because as former customers they were not subject to Synapse's allegedly deceptive techniques for obtaining subscription renewals.

Class Action Law Monitor agreed with the court’s decision, writing, “The district court correctly denied certification of the proposed class. The plaintiffs had no cognizable interest in the prospective relief sought.”

Synapse Group was represented by Venable partners Tom Gilbertsen and Danielle Foley and associate Liz Forbes.
