Venable of counsel Jonathan Pompan was quoted in a November 13, 2012 article in The Blog of Legal Times on the announced departure of Raj Date from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Date was hired as a senior advisor to Elizabeth Warren in February 2011 to help start the agency. Following Warren’s departure, he took over her role as s special advisor to the Secretary of the Treasury on CFPB and led the agency until Richard Cordray became CFPB director.
Commenting on Date’s departure, Pompan said, “Many in the banking community viewed him as a connection…He's the highest-profile staff person at the bureau, and one of the longest-serving, who also worked in the financial services sector.”
