Venable Adds Experienced Commercial Litigator Stacie Tobin as a Partner in its Baltimore office

Baltimore, MD (November 26, 2012) – Venable LLP announced that experienced commercial litigator and products liability defense counsel Stacie Tobin has joined the firm as a partner in its Baltimore office.

Ms. Tobin, arrives from the Baltimore office of DLA Piper, where she was also a partner.  She has extensive experience litigating commercial disputes, with a particular focus on real estate matters on behalf of investors, developers, lenders and other stakeholders.  Additionally, she has represented retailers, pharmaceutical firms, tobacco companies, and manufacturers in various segments, including automotive, watercraft and heavy equipment.

Ms. Tobin has frequently defended clients facing product liability claims, such as design or manufacturing defects, breach of warranty, fraud and consumer protection claims.  She has also handled trade secret restrictions and restrictive covenants in employment agreements; investor actions to access the books and records of privately-owned corporations; and breach of contract claims.

“Stacie is a highly gifted and versatile litigator with the ability to lead large, complex cases involving a wide variety of claims, in federal or state matters,” said Venable’s Litigation Practice Chair Geoffrey Garinther.  “Although she could contribute in almost any area of dispute – including our national product defense work – she will likely be working on commercial cases, with some concentration on real estate matters, where she has particular experience.”

Ms. Tobin served as a law clerk for both the Honorable John F. McAuliffe, Court of Appeals of Maryland and the Honorable Deborah K. Chasanow, United States District Court for the District of Maryland.

Ms. Tobin earned her J.D. from the University of Maryland (1992) and her B.A. from Mount Holyoke College (1989).
