Venable of counsel Michael Signorelli was quoted by Ad Exchanger in a June 7, 2013 article on the Digital Advertising Alliance’s (DAA) potential advertising guidelines for mobile devices. Sharing at the DAA’s first annual summit on June 5, Signorelli, who is counsel to the DAA, said “I think secretly, many of us had hoped we could just insert the word ‘mobile’ into our existing guidelines, but it’s much more complicated than that.”
Among many topics, panelists at the summit addressed the degree to which advertisers should be able to use consumer data from mobile devices including location information. Signorelli said there will be “heightened safeguards” regarding the use of smartphone users’ geolocation data.
