Practice Chair Jeff Tenenbaum named a Leading Lawyer for third consecutive year
Washington, DC (June 30, 2014) – Legal 500, considered one of the most comprehensive worldwide qualitative guides available on legal services providers, has announced its 2014 rankings. Venable’s Nonprofit Practice was one of the top 10 national practices recognized by the publication. Singled out for the third consecutive year is practice Chair Jeffrey S. Tenenbaum, who was named a Leading Lawyer. Mr. Tenenbaum is one of only nine attorneys in the country to receive this designation in the Not-for-Profit category.
According to Legal 500, Venable’s Nonprofit Practice provides service which is “nothing short of outstanding,” and “is particularly recommended for advice on the creation and management of nonprofit and corporate foundations.” The “very responsive” nonprofit team “consistently demonstrates the highest degree of business acumen” with particular praise for its “completeness, effectiveness, and timeliness of its services.” Legal 500 also highlights the group’s “unique” model, with all of the group’s 40-strong members “acting as generalists across the full remit of nonprofit work.”
Individually, Mr. Tenenbaum is praised as “very entrepreneurial” and best known for his trade association practice. Along with Counsel Lisa M. Hix, Legal 500 says Mr. Tenenbaum has “broad and excellent knowledge of nonprofit issues.” Robert L. Waldman, Venable’s Co-Managing Partner, is recognized for his “outstanding depth of knowledge, skills and ability,” and as someone who “has the ability to quickly gather the facts, and to quickly and thoroughly provide a variety of problem-solving alternatives.” Partners Ronald M. Jacobs and David R. Warner are said to “provide exceptional service” by Legal 500 sources. The publication also recommends partners George E. Constantine, Brock R. Landry, and Jonathan L. Pompan and associate Matthew T. Journy.
Across the firm, Legal 500 recognized 55 individual attorneys and ranked the firm in 13 practice categories, including Tier 1 rankings for Marketing and Advertising and M&A: Middle-Market (Sub-$500M). Five attorneys – Roger A. Colaizzi, Stuart P. Ingis, Jeffrey D. Knowles, Charles J. Morton, Jr., and William T. Russell – joined Mr. Tenenbaum as Leading Lawyers.
Published for over 25 years, the Legal 500 has been analyzing the capabilities of law firms across the world, with a comprehensive research program revised and updated every year to bring the most up-to-date vision of the global legal market. Rankings are based on a series of criteria including feedback from 250,000 clients worldwide, submissions and interviews with leading private practice lawyers, and a team of researchers who have unrivalled experience in the legal market. Leading Lawyer selections are made from among all the recommended attorneys in a particular category and represent those few individuals, who, in the view of their peers, represent the highest standards of the category.
With more than 600 nonprofit clients nationwide, Venable has the largest concentration of attorneys in the country providing counseling and advocacy for charities, trade and professional associations, foundations, think tanks, hospitals, schools and other nonprofit organizations.
