IP Stars – Top 250 Women in IP Names Venable Partners Janet Satterthwaite and Toni-Junell Herbert to 2014 List

Washington, DC – October 29, 2014 – Venable LLP is pleased to announce that partners Janet F. Satterthwaite and Toni-Junell Herbert were named to the second edition of IP Stars – Top 250 Women in IP list. This is Ms. Satterthwaite’s second year appearing on the annual list of the top female IP attorneys in the United States.

Recognized for both Trademark Prosecution and Trademark Contentious in recognition of her ability to take a client from brand selection and registration through to portfolio management and enforcement in courts worldwide, Ms. Satterthwaite is described as a “leading authority in all aspects of trademark, licensing, portfolio management, and counterfeiting.”  Highlighting some of her recent successes, IP Stars noted that “she successfully argued on behalf of a hedge fund being impersonated by a Ponzi scheme on the internet, obtaining a temporary restraining order and expedited discovery as well as the shutdown of the key website.”

Providing global trademark counseling and enforcement to key U.S. brands, and U.S. trademark counsel to leading global brands, Ms. Satterthwaite also has a strong client base in Europe where she has held significant leadership positions in Marques, the European Trademark Owners’ Association. Ms. Satterthwaite is also a seasoned trademark litigator who has won as lead counsel on many trademark, domain name, copyright and false advertising lawsuits in federal courts in several states and in foreign countries.
