New York, NY (September 1, 2016) – In a noteworthy expansion of its Intellectual Property practice, Venable LLP announces the addition of first chair IP litigator Robert M. Isackson as a partner in the firm's New York office. Mr. Isackson joins from Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, where he was also a partner.

With a focus on patent and trade secret disputes and commercial disputes over technology issues, Mr. Isackson has served as lead counsel in more than 40 federal cases and represented plaintiffs and defendants before the Patent and Trademark Office and international arbitration tribunals. His work has involved some of the most complex technologies for leading companies, ranging from Fortune 100 multinationals to emerging start-ups. He also has a remarkable history handling exceptional case attorney fee issues, obtaining awards totaling more than $13 million, fending off claims against clients, and transferring patent cases to more client-friendly forums.

Clients, peers, and multiple publications, including Chambers USA, Legal 500, Managing Intellectual Property, and most recently Intellectual Asset Management in its 2016 Patent 1000 global rankings, have long recognized Mr. Isackson as a leading intellectual property litigator.

"As we continue to grow and expand our New York presence, we're thrilled to welcome Rob to the team. His experience and credentials speak for themselves, and he will be a valuable asset for our clients," said Matthew T. McLaughlin, Partner-in-Charge of Venable's New York office.

Rob consistently achieves positive results for his clients through passion, dedication, and experience."

At Venable, Mr. Isackson joins a national intellectual property practice with more than 50 IP attorneys firm-wide, including over 30 registered patent practitioners. The group represents clients from around the world in domestic and international intellectual property issues, including litigation, PTAB and TTAB proceedings, licensing and other transactions, and counseling. The group also works with clients to obtain, defend, and assert patents, trademarks, and copyrights, and stop the sale and importation of counterfeit goods.

Mr. Isackson received his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and graduated magna cum laude with a B.S.E. from the University of Michigan College of Engineering.
