Bloomberg BNA quotes Jonathan Pompan regarding CFPB’s director departure

Jonathan Pompan was quoted in Bloomberg BNA on November 17, 2017, in an article about CFPB's director departure. According to the article, Director Richard Cordray's departure gives congressional Republicans an opportunity to reshape the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. But any changes to the agency are more likely to come from his successor rather than Capitol Hill.

Pompan said Cordray's departure opens up the possibility of tying a Senate vote on an eventual nominee for director with restructuring the CFPB.

"There's been a vocal number of Republicans that have put forward and supported bills to reform the agency," he said. "But now there's the ability to shape the agency without full-scale structural reforms simply by confirming a new director."
