On May 15, 2020, Mike Volpe was quoted in Bloomberg Law and Law360 on the Venable-New York Law School (NYLS) Summer Associate Simulation Program, an eight-week virtual program that will focus on how the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting the field of law.
NYLS partnered with Volpe, an alumnus of the school, to create the program. Venable partners and senior associates will serve as mentors for the students and provide constant feedback on their work. Volpe, who will co-chair the program’s simulated litigation practice group, said it will be "just like being a summer associate in a law firm."
Students will separate into the practices of litigation, corporate law, or government affairs and policy. Apart from instruction in virtual classrooms, the students will conduct staff meetings and draft documents such as memorandums, client letters, legislation, motions, client presentations, and corporate transactional documents.
The law school originally anticipated demand for the program to be at 120 students, but so far it has had over 200 applicants.
