Venable Achieves Mansfield Rule 5.0 Certification Through Its Ongoing Commitment to Diversity

2 min

Venable LLP is pleased to announce that it has achieved Mansfield Rule 5.0 certification. This accomplishment builds on the firm’s ongoing commitment to increase and sustain diversity, advance the inclusion of historically underrepresented lawyers at all levels, and expand Venable’s efforts to integrate diversity and inclusion across its business practices.

“Over the past year, we adopted new processes, enhanced our measurement of these metrics, piloted new initiatives with the support of practice group leaders and business professionals, and shared knowledge with other firms,” said Jenn Reddien, chief diversity and inclusion officer at Venable. “We look forward to building on this work and to continuing our comprehensive approach to advancing diversity and inclusion at the firm.”

Named for Arabella Mansfield, the first woman admitted to the practice of law in the United States, the goal of the Mansfield Rule is to boost the representation of historically underrepresented lawyers in law firm leadership. Participating law firms track and measure the extent to which they have affirmatively considered women, lawyers from underrepresented racial/ethnic groups, lawyers with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ lawyers for top leadership roles, senior-level lateral hiring, promotions into the equity partnership, and participation in client pitch meetings.
