Washington, DC (November 1, 2025) — In its second round of gifting this year, the Venable Foundation announced today that it has granted more than $1.1 million in grants to 130 nonprofits across the U.S. to support operations, programming, and other initiatives. The largest donations were given to the Maryland Food Bank, Miriam’s Kitchen, and Bread for the City, to help combat food insecurity.
“We’re proud to support organizations addressing food insecurity during a critical time for families,” said Michael Bigley, director, Venable Foundation. “We are equally proud to support the ongoing initiatives and services of organizations that are meeting a variety of needs every day within communities where we live and operate.”
Total grants by city include:
- $482,500 to 51 organizations in Washington, DC
- $276,000 to 20 organizations in Baltimore
- $137,500 to 21 organizations in New York City
- $125,000 to 19 organizations in Los Angeles
- $37,500 to 6 organizations in Miami
- $25,000 to 5 organizations in Chicago
- $25,000 to 4 organizations in Denver
- $17,500 to 4 organizations in San Francisco
Grants are given to nonprofits that align with one of the firm’s eight focus areas—arts and culture, education, environment, health, human services, legal services, workforce development, and youth impact—and are located in a city where the firm operates. The Venable Foundation is one of the oldest law firm foundations in the United States and is regularly recognized and ranked as one of the most charitable. In its 42nd year, the Foundation, which is proudly funded by the partners of Venable LLP, has awarded $2.3 million in grants to 246 nonprofit organizations this year.
