Elizabeth Glasgow will present "Same-Sex Estate Planning" for the Tax and Estate Planning Law Association (TEPLA) and the Williams Institute at UCLA on November 4, 2013.
Estate planning is a crucial tool for any couple looking to protect their assets in the event of one partner's death. But, until recently, same-sex couples in California could not access many of the benefits of traditional estate planning afforded to married couples.
The Supreme Court's decisions in Windsor and Hollingsworth have created new opportunities for same-sex couples to enjoy some of the same estate planning benefits as their opposite-sex counterparts. This panel of three practitioners, who concentrate on same-sex estate planning, will discuss the past, present and future of estate planning for same-sex couples.
