This program, the third in our inaugural law & education series, is focused on understanding tax laws and potential exemptions to help your educational institution minimize tax liability within the bounds of the law. The program is designed for in-house counsel, CFOs and other finance professionals, heads of school, school board members, and trustees, who will gain an understanding of the following, among other topics:
- Leveraging federal income tax exemptions
- The limitations on the exemption, for example, UBIT (Unrelated Business Income Tax)
- The distinctions and differences between federal income and New York real property tax exemptions
- Maintaining and structuring transactions in order to retain your real property exemption and minimize tax liability as your institution develops, redevelops, sells, or leases their real estate
