On October 3, 2023 Venable partner Justin Coen spoke in the “Building a Compliance Program for 2023 and Beyond” webinar hosted by the American Health Law Association. The webinar highlighted the importance of proactive engagement by current compliance officers in building or updating internal compliance programs to meet updated agency guidance over the last 5 years. Justin and his fellow panelists discussed the key skills and competencies that compliance officers need to develop to be effective in their roles, including strong communication skills, a deep understanding of regulatory requirements, and the ability to work collaboratively with other stakeholders in the organization.
