The past several years have seen a large number of litigations involving media streaming patents. Since 2017, an average of 165 streaming patent cases have been filed each year in federal district courts—and this number is increasing. As a result, many media and entertainment businesses are becoming embroiled in technology disputes that are expensive, burdensome, risky and outside of the company’s core mission. Trends have emerged from this rash of streaming patent litigations.
