In the past few years, per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) — commonly referred to as "forever chemicals" — have become a focal point of discussion among regulators, scientists, journalists, brands, their manufacturers and suppliers, and the general public. This is, in part, because these chemicals are resistant to degradation, thus creating unique and unprecedented issues for companies that use them (whether knowingly or unknowingly).

Not surprisingly, these issues often manifest as legal and regulatory challenges, greatly impacting the consumer products industry and the lawyers who counsel them.
