John Goodridge

John Goodridge focuses his practice on complex real estate and finance matters. John represents lenders, owners, developers, and investors in the acquisition, disposition, development, and financing of commercial real estate projects. His practice also includes aiding lenders, borrowers, and special servicers on loan restructurings, workouts, loan sales, and the origination of facilities secured by personal property.

John is experienced in managing the legal aspects of commercial real estate and finance matters across several asset classes, including hospitality, multifamily, manufacturing, industrial, retail, and healthcare. He has experience with drafting governance documents and matters concerning the management of real estate portfolios, including leasing and property management. He has also represented lenders, issuers, and developers in municipal bond transactions.

At the beginning of John's career, he represented lenders, trustees, and receivers in bankruptcy, receivership, and other enforcement matters. He draws from this experience when counseling clients through loan originations and workouts.

  • Represented a national banking association in connection with the origination of a $197 million floorplan line of credit and $68 million in mortgage-backed loans to a family of auto dealerships
  • Represented a national banking association in connection with the origination of an asset-backed credit facility for a kitchen product manufacturer
  • Represented national banking associations and state-chartered banks on several mortgage-backed loans for retail, hospitality, and manufacturing facilities

Real Estate Acquisitions, Dispositions, and Borrower-Side Financing

  • Represented a storage facility operator with the origination and refinancing of construction loans for two warehouse and distribution facilities totaling $363 million in debt financing and $12 million in tax increment financing
  • Represented an equity investor in a joint venture in the development and disposition of a $103.5 million resort structured under Florida condominium law and subject to special tax district laws
  • Represented an equity investor and property manager in a joint venture with the acquisition and financing of 15 medical office buildings

  • Represented a special asset group of a national banking association with respect to forbearance agreements for asset-backed loans
  • Represented a special asset group of a national banking association with respect to a joinder and modification agreement for a medical practice loan under default
  • Represented a national banking association with respect to a settlement agreement with a borrower in the manufacturing industry
