Len Goodman is an experienced construction attorney who focuses on construction transactions, risk management, and dispute resolution. Len represents clients in all aspects of property development and has extensive experience developing and implementing strategies to manage and minimize construction-related risks and claims on new construction and major renovation projects from a contractual, insurance, bond, and operations perspective. He has helped guide the completion of hotel, condominium, commercial building, transportation, and energy projects valued at more than $2 billion.
Len draws upon his three decades of experience to achieve the most favorable results in drafting and negotiating design, construction, and other agreements for his clients, and representing them in development related disputes. He has worked with all of the major professional design and engineering organizations, including the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Associated General Contractors (AGC), the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) the Engineers Joint Contracts Documents Committee (EJCDC), and the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC).
In 2009, Len earned certification as a LEED®-Accredited Professional from the United States Green Building Council—one of less than 200 legal professionals at the time to have earned this certification. He is adept at negotiating "green" provisions into his clients' design and construction contracts.
Len has defended and prosecuted numerous complex commercial contract, construction, and product defect matters. As an example, For five years, Len led a nationwide team of attorneys in prosecuting a multi-state construction defect and product defect litigation on behalf of a prominent national hotel chain with 250 properties at issue. As lead trial attorney, Len won a significant jury verdict in Massachusetts state court in the first of these cases to go to trial. During a second trial in Federal Court in Pennsylvania, Len's client achieved an extremely favorable, eight-figure global settlement of all pending cases.
