Anna Higgins advises on intellectual property (IP) matters, including trademark and copyright disputes, brand protection, and right of publicity. Anna has assisted on matters relating to trademark application oppositions, enforcing brands' registered trademarks, and reviewing copyright settlements. She has experience in drafting notices of opposition, memoranda, and discovery documents and researching discrete legal issues. Anna assists in the trademark enforcement and protection of global brands in the entertainment, toy, health and wellness, and financial services industries, and in right of publicity strategies and agreements for high-profile clients. She also is involved in discovery proceedings for litigation involving fashion brands.
During law school, Anna worked for USC Gould's Intellectual Property and Technology Law Clinic, where she advised game developers and filmmakers on copyright and trademark matters and drafted amici briefs in fair use cases. Anna was also a summer associate at Venable. Before joining Venable, Anna evaluated the privacy policies of children's mobile applications for a nonprofit organization focused on children's media. Before law school, Anna led grassroots advocacy initiatives and lobbied congressional offices and the Federal Communications Commission on internet access and cybersecurity issues as a project and policy advisor at a nonprofit organization.
