Dennis McMahon has vast experience representing clients in complex patent disputes throughout the U.S. and internationally. Dennis has represented plaintiffs and defendants in high-stakes litigation matters in several federal district courts, before the U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC), in private arbitration, and in cross-border proceedings, including in the UK, Germany, and the Unified Patent Court (UPC). He has served on numerous trial teams in both jury and bench trials involving sophisticated technologies and commercially significant products, helping clients successfully navigate technically complex disputes and fast-moving competitive markets.

Dennis regularly represents parties in patent disputes involving intellectual property rights owners and sellers on e-commerce platforms and online marketplaces. He also advises clients on a broad range of intellectual property matters, including trademark prosecution and counseling, due diligence, licensing, and commercial transactions. He works closely with clients to develop practical, business-oriented strategies for protecting and maximizing the value of their intellectual property assets.

Dennis's technical experience spans a wide range of industries and technologies, including consumer electronics, imaging and printing technologies, internet streaming systems, user interfaces, facial recognition technologies, artificial intelligence, touch-screen devices, shipping and logistics software, fire safety products, and toy products.  He also has experience in medical and life sciences innovations including pharmaceutical formulations and polymers, biotechnology, and medical devices.

Prior to joining Venable, Dennis was a partner at the IP boutique firm Fitzpatrick Cella, Harper & Scinto.
