John Walsh represents institutional developers, nonprofit and educational organizations, and other owners and operators of real property assets. John drafts and negotiates all manner of agreements related to the construction, development, repositioning, maintenance, and ongoing operations of real property assets. He also advises clients with respect to the prevention and resolution of a broad array of related issues, claims, and disputes.
John has wide-ranging experience representing clients in connection with commercial office, hospitality, industrial, infrastructure, cultural, retail, life sciences, educational, and mixed-use projects, ranging from retail and commercial interior fit-outs to complex, skyline-altering multi-tower developments. John also represents high-net-worth individuals in connection with the construction and renovation of single-family residences.
John regularly drafts, reviews, and negotiates all agreements required to take any construction or renovation project from inception to final completion. This includes owner-contractor agreements, agreements with the key members of the project's design team (including architects and engineers), and agreements with non-professional consultants, in addition to related lease, development, and loan agreements. John also drafts and negotiates agreements related to the ongoing operation of real property assets, including property management agreements and maintenance and repair agreements with service providers. He assists clients with managing multi-year, large-scale renovations of operating resorts and other large-scale hospitality assets, including pursuant to multi-stage property improvement plans.
John also counsels clients with respect to disputes regarding defective work, non-performance, contract renewal, disputed payment claims, cost escalations, project delays, and similar issues.
