Joo Cha Webb is a complex civil litigator who focuses her practice on defending and advising companies in matters involving environmental and toxic tort claims, product liability law, and compliance issues. Joo represents energy and oil companies, as well as those that manufacture, distribute, and use a variety of chemicals. Joo has extensive experience defending companies of all sizes against claims related to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), benzene, organic solvents, silica, aluminum, lead, formaldehyde, and other substances.

Joo has defended clients against claims involving exposure to PFAS and environmental contamination related to PFAS discharges in class action, personal injury, medical monitoring, property damages, and natural resource damages matters in both federal and state courts. Joo’s practice also includes advising clients in various industries regarding environmental compliance issues and risk management. She works closely with her clients to understand the complexities of each matter, as well as the client’s priorities and potential exposures, to develop strategies that will achieve the best possible outcome.

Joo’s litigation experience also includes defending clients against claims involving complex litigation disputes, wage-and-hour disputes, wrongful termination, breach of contract, and catastrophic injury. Her counsel to clients includes pre-litigation risk and regulatory compliance.

Representative Matters

  • Represented and negotiated favorable settlements on behalf of a chemical manufacturing company in numerous litigation matters involving allegations of PFAS contamination in local residential neighborhoods
  • Provided counsel to companies in chemical manufacturing, food, and consumer products industries involving risk management, as well as compliance issues and obligations related to PFAS
  • Excluded plaintiff’s liability expert in an action pending in federal court, which led to a favorable resolution on behalf of a vehicle manufacturer involving allegations of a defective fuel tank
  • Obtained dismissals on behalf of multiple chemical manufacturers and distributors prior to trial in personal injury cases involving exposure to products containing toxic chemicals in the Central District of the Los Angeles Superior Court
  • Defended and negotiated favorable resolutions on behalf of manufacturers and distributors of chemical solvents, adhesives, equipment, and tools in matters involving allegations of exposure to toxic chemicals causing various diseases
  • Obtained summary judgment on behalf of a physician and employer in a wrongful death matter claiming medical malpractice in the Northern District of the Los Angeles Superior Court
  • Represented a well-known Los Angeles hotel and its employees, and successfully resolved for a fraction of the demand, in a personal injury matter involving claims of assault, battery, false imprisonment, negligence, and conversion
  • Defended and resolved after expert depositions and pre-trial motions a catastrophic personal injury matter with debilitating injuries involving a vehicle collision under the influence of alcohol
