Sarah S. Brooks

Partner

Sarah Brooks is a partner in Venable's Intellectual Property Litigation Practice in the Los Angeles office, where she focuses on litigating intellectual property disputes, including patent, trademark, trade secret, antitrust, and copyright litigation. She counsels a broad range of large and small technology companies, including consumer product, wireless technology, mechanical device, computer science, biotech, medical device, and toy and sporting companies.

She achieves positive outcomes for clients in court with dispositive motions, motions in limine, and Markman hearings. Sarah has also successfully tried cases in federal court, and obtained a willful infringement jury verdict for a client in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.

Sarah has served on the board of the Los Angeles Intellectual Property Law Association (LAIPLA) for the last five years and is the current vice president of the LAIPLA. Sarah is also a pro bono volunteer with Public Counsel in children's rights and guardianship cases.

  • Obtained a full defense win in a patent infringement case against The Coleman Company.
  • Obtained a final judgement of non-infringement on behalf of Sport Dimension, Inc. dba Body Glove, on March 18, 2015.
  • Obtained a permanent injunction for Sea Doo Sea Scooter manufacturer.
  • Obtained a permanent injunction for Sea Doo Sea manufacturer, Hydrodynamic Industrial Co. Ltd., in a patent infringement case.
  • Obtained a jury verdict of willful patent infringement and willful copyright infringement for Hydrodynamic.
  • Obtained a jury verdict of willful patent infringement and willful copyright infringement in November 2014 for client Hydrodynamic Industrial Co. Ltd. against Green Max Distributors in the Central District of California.
