"Lead Generation and the Federal Trade Commission: Q & A on Consumer Protection" at LeadsCon 2019

This event has already occurred.

Venable Partner Jonathan L. Pompan will interview Andrew Smith, Director, Bureau of Consumer Protection, Federal Trade.

The FTC's Bureau of Consumer Protection’s mandate is to protect consumers against unfair, deceptive or fraudulent practices and has taken an important role in discussing lead generation advertising and consumer protection issues. The Bureau enforces a variety of consumer protection laws enacted by Congress, as well as trade regulation rules issued by the Commission. Its actions include individual company and industry-wide investigations, administrative and federal court litigation, rulemaking proceedings, and consumer and business education. In addition, the Bureau contributes to the FTC's on-going efforts to inform Congress and other government entities of the impact that proposed actions could have on consumers.

The staff of the FTC Bureau of Consumer Protection released a much-anticipated paper on lead generation on September 15, 2016, discussed here.
