Venable’s Advertising, Privacy and Data Security, and M&A practices received favorable reviews and rankings in the just-released 2010 edition of Legal 500. In addition, Venable partners Jeff Knowles and Stu Ingis were named “leading lawyers” in their respective areas of practice.

The UK-based guide ranks attorneys and practice groups across the nation based on feedback from clients and peers.

The guide quotes one Venable client who called the firm “the top privacy legal team in the US.” A reference called Ingis “very bright and quickly understands the legal, public relations and political aspects of privacy issues" and "offers practical advice." Another called partner Milo Cividanes “excellent value with tremendous depth of understanding and industry knowledge.”

On the advertising front, Legal 500 quotes a reference who said the attorneys in Venable’s Advertising practice “always respond in a timely manner, and give concrete advice and recommendations rather than wishy-washy opinions.” And a client quoted by the guide remarked that practice chair Jeff Knowles “has built an unmatched reputation on his knowledge of advertising law, his ability to think like his clients, and his talent for forging creative, workable solutions.”

Legal 500 recognized Venable’s M&A practice for its service to a wide mix of industry clients, including companies in the defense, aerospace, federal information technology and healthcare industries on transactions with values of less than $500 million. The guide’s commentary on Venable’s M&A practice mentioned partners Mike Baader and Bob Bolger by name.
