Venable represented Suchman, LLC, the debtor-in-possession lender and stalking horse bidder / buyer, in the MEE Apparel / MEE Direct bankruptcy cases. The debtors were the primary holders of the rights to the Ecko license, an urban streetwear brand marketed through both retail and wholesale channels. The transaction closed on May 31, 2014. Working on the matter were Venable partner Ronn Davids and counsel Jennifer Cappelletty (corporate), partners Hamid Rafatjoo, Jamie Edmonson and Patrick Boyle (bankruptcy), Mitch Evall (real estate), Rich Frey (labor and employment), and Mike Davis and associate Maggie Kuhn (insurance).
