Venable Attorneys Todd Nosher and Lauren Scarantino Promoted to Counsel in New York

New York, NY – January 28, 2015 - Venable LLP is pleased to announce that Todd M. Nosher and Lauren A. Scarantino of the firm's New York office have been promoted to Counsel. Mr. Nosher and Ms. Scarantino were among 31 attorneys across Venable's California, Maryland, New York, Virginia and Washington, DC offices promoted to Counsel. The new Counsel represent a broad cross-section of the firm with individuals from the firm's Business, Government Intellectual Property and Litigation practices.

Mr. Nosher is an intellectual property litigator who focuses his practice on complex patent litigation in the pharmaceutical, electronic and mechanical industries. He frequently represents clients against non-practicing patent assertion entities in United States district courts throughout the country. Mr. Nosher also litigates and arbitrates matters involving research and development agreements, licensing disputes, and copyright and trademark matters. Additionally, he counsels clients on a wide range of intellectual property matters including pre-suit investigations, litigation strategy and transactional work. Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Nosher served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office where he directed criminal investigations, presented matters to the Grand Jury for indictment and was assigned to the office's trial division, frequently serving as lead prosecutor in hearings, trials and other court proceedings. Mr. Nosher prosecuted both non-violent and violent crime, including narcotics and firearm offenses, criminal conspiracies and financial crimes.

A member of Venable's Real Estate Practice, Ms. Scarantino's practice concentrates on commercial real estate finance, representing investment and commercial banks, real estate investment trusts, private equity funds, insurance companies and other financial institutions in the structuring and origination of commercial mortgage loans secured by various types of real estate, mezzanine loans and warehouse loan facilities. In addition to representing financial institutions, Ms. Scarantino also represents real estate developers in the acquisition and financing of commercial properties including hotels, golf resorts, office buildings, shopping malls, retail stores and multi-family apartments.
