Worked on high-profile matters related to 2007 San Diego wildfires and represented the cast of Modern Family in contract dispute
LOS ANGELES – July 18, 2016 – Venable LLP announced today that Colin Vandell has joined the firm's Los Angeles office as Counsel in the Litigation practice. Mr. Vandell comes from Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP, where he was an associate at the firm.
Mr. Vandell represents industry-leading companies and high-profile individuals in complex business litigation, including commercial disputes, intellectual property litigation, mass torts, and consumer protection actions. His practice encompasses a variety of industries, including media and entertainment, real estate, retail products, and hospitality. Mr. Vandell has extensive experience in all aspects of civil litigation, including large-scale discovery, alternative dispute resolution, and trial work on high-value matters involving numerous significant issues of first impression.

Many of Mr. Vandell's cases have been widely covered by the media, including litigation regarding the 2007 San Diego wildfires, in which he helped lead more than 50 mass tort actions in trial court and mediation on behalf of San Diego Gas & Electric Company. He also was intimately involved in the contract dispute involving the television series Modern Family, where he represented the cast with regard to its employment agreements.

Mr. Vandell received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Virginia Sports & Entertainment Law Journal, and a B.A. from Rice University, from which Mr. Vandell graduated summa cum laude.
