On November 7, 2022, the news about Genovese Joblove & Battista joining Venable was featured in several publications, including Law.com, Law360, and Reuters. The combination, which will take effect January 1, 2023, will give Venable a presence in Florida, adding 36 attorneys to Venable’s current headcount of 850 professionals.
Commenting on the combined firms, Stu Ingis, chairman of Venable, told the American Lawyer, “GJB’s strengths were quite attractive to us. They have very strong franchise practice, which has a lot of synergies with our consumer practices such as advertising and data protection, as well as our hospitality practice.”
Mr. Ingis commented to Law360, "We were most attracted to the lawyers of the firm and the quality and cohesiveness of the firm and then to be in a top-tier market. Miami is a top legal market. The state of Florida is one of the top legal markets in the country, and so for us to expand into a region like that with such a top-quality group of lawyers is what attracted us."
Mr. Ingis added in Reuters that Genovese Joblove & Battista "is well established in Florida, where the legal market, population, and economy continue to grow."
