For the first time in nearly 30 years, the IRS has revamped the Form 990, the primary annual public reporting and disclosure tool used by nonprofit organizations. The result is a radically redesigned document that will have not only significant implications for how nonprofits report and disclose key operational details, but also will require careful, proactive planning at the beginning of the year to avoid embarrassing or uncomfortable disclosures at year-end.
