Debt collectors are asking what's the future of legal and regulatory compliance now that there's a new President and Congress? Efforts to re-shape the federal regulatory landscape, including the CFPB are underway. Yet, consumer lawsuits, state enforcement and examinations, third-party audits, and even federal enforcement continue to present potential areas of risk. The focus of this session will be a combination of a refresher on bedrock compliance requirements and best practices, including key aspects of FDCPA and FCRA; evolving areas like digital communications and payments matters; and case studies on how companies can continue to leverage robust compliance programs to go forward with more confidence and less risk.

In an interactive discussion, hear from an chief compliance officer and from attorneys that advise on an array of debt collection compliance matters and defend federal and state enforcement investigations. Panelists will share approaches to compliance and practical answers to questions.

Speakers:
Jonathan L. Pompan, Esq., Partner and Co-chair of the Consumer Financial Services, Venable LLP
Alexandra Megaris, Esq., Counsel, Consumer Financial Services, Venable LLP
