In a February 6, 2015 Legal Times article, Venable Co-Managing Partner Bob Waldman discussed the firm’s most recent record setting year. Last year was a strong one for the firm which saw an 8% rise in gross revenue and a 9% jump in net income. On average, Venable attorneys billed an extra 50 hours apiece compared to the previous year. The firm also grew by 31 attorneys last year, a 6% increase in total headcount.
“We stayed to our knitting,” Waldman said commenting on firm’s success. “We’ve grown somewhat, but not ridiculously. That’s our recipe—orderly, organized growth.” Waldman added that the firm’s record setting year was not fueled by one particular practice, but rather split between the firm’s core practices in regulatory and corporate. Citing products liability, real estate, financial services, litigation and tax as key practices last year, Waldman said, “We continue to build on our strengths.”
