Record-tying 19 National Tier 1 rankings; 110 total national and metropolitan rankings
Washington, DC (November 1, 2016) – The 2017 edition of U.S. News – Best Lawyers "Best Law Firms" named Venable a Tier 1 firm in a record-tying 19 national practice areas. Overall, the firm was ranked in 110 practice areas at the national and metropolitan levels. It was also named Law Firm of the Year for Technology Law.
The U.S. News – Best Lawyers "Best Law Firms" rankings are based on a rigorous evaluation process, including the collection of client and attorney evaluations, peer review by leading attorneys in their fields, and review of additional information provided by law firms as part of the formal submission process. To be eligible for a ranking, a law firm must have at least one attorney listed in the 22nd edition of The Best Lawyers in America©, for that particular location and practice.
Only one law firm is recognized as the Law Firm of the Year in each practice area ranked by "Best Law Firms." Winners are selected based on an impressive overall performance in the research process.
Earlier this year, 94 attorneys were named to the 2017 edition of The Best Lawyers in America, including seven attorneys who were named "Lawyer of the Year" in Baltimore.
