Seasoned compliance officers and in-house regulatory and litigation counsel are constantly having to adapt to the evolving CFPB regulatory and enforcement landscape. This session will highlight notable recent CFPB activity, the increasing need for companies to manage consumer complaints and to understand what they mean, the increasing need to establish a culture of proactive compliance for exams and to avoid enforcement, and what companies can do to get there. Of course, all of this is expected of financial services companies big and small.

This session will provide tips and insight from a compliance thought leader and an attorney who understands the legal decisions that any financial services company or service provider under the CFPB's jurisdiction will have to make.
Topics include:

  • Consumer complaint trends and what the statistics mean
  • Product development, advertising, and fulfillment pitfalls financial services companies should avoid
  • Best practices for exam and investigation responses
  • Factors enforcers consider when opening or closing an investigation and determining whether to bring an enforcement action

Speakers:
Jonathan L. Pompan, Esq., Partner and Co-Chair, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Task Force, Venable LLP
David Morgan, Chief Revenue Officer, PerformLine, Inc.
