Josh Finestone has extensive experience on Capitol Hill, where he advocates for client interests regarding public policy, primarily in communications, consumer protection, tax reform, and bankruptcy. Josh also has significant experience with appropriations advocacy. His knowledge, experience, and relationships with Congress members and staff, regulators, and influencers outside of government enable him to advise and guide clients through the executive branch, legislative, and agency policymaking processes.
Before joining Venable, Josh influenced legislative and regulatory policy as the vice president of legislative affairs at a well-known government and public relations firm. In addition, he served on the professional staff of the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee as a senior aide to Senator Dean Heller (R-NV), during the Senator's service as ranking member of the Subcommittee on Consumer Protection, Product Safety, Insurance, and Data Security. Prior to that position, he was the legislative director for U.S. Representative Tom Graves (R-GA), the cardinal of the Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Subcommittee, and a member of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense. He also served as the legislative assistant to U.S. Representative Mike Rogers (R-MI), with a focus on telecommunications and Internet issues before the Energy and Commerce Committee.
