Katie Marshall assists clients on privacy, data security, and transportation policy matters. She provides compliance guidance on federal, state, and international laws and regulations, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography and Marketing Act (CAN-SPAM), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and state data breach notification laws.
Katie also advises companies in the connected technology and autonomous vehicle industry on federal and state transportation policy and regulatory developments.
Prior to joining Venable, Katie interned at the Department of Education, Office of the General Counsel. In this role, she drafted motions and legal memoranda on a variety of issues, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) exemptions, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) claims, and more. Previously Katie served as chief of staff at One Chance Illinois where she helped coordinate campaign efforts while ensuring the organization remained compliant with lobbyist and IRS 990 reporting requirements.
