Brian Tengel provides consumer privacy and data security guidance for clients across many industries. Brian advises on compliance with federal, state, and international laws and regulations, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). As a member of the firm's Mobility and Transportation Technology team, Brian also counsels clients on complex legal, regulatory, and policy issues related to emerging transportation technologies, including fully automated and electric vehicles, connected cars, and the Internet of Things.
Brian has experience counseling clients on advertising and marketing matters involving the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), National Advertising Division (NAD), and Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). This experience includes advising clients on advertising claim substantiation, pricing and sales claims, sweepstakes and promotions, and gift card and unclaimed property issues.
Following law school, Brian clerked for Chief Judge Roger L. Gregory of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and for Associate Judge Corinne Beckwith of the D.C. Court of Appeals.
