McDonald Douglas
Doug McDonald is a real estate and commercial finance attorney who focuses on real estate and technology company loan originations, workouts, and dispositions of defaulted loans; real estate transactions, including site acquisition and development, and retail and office leasing; and business counseling. Doug has represented hospitality, financial services, and government contractor clients in virtually every aspect of complex real estate and other business transactions.

Doug regularly represents parties in financings secured by multifamily properties or non-real estate assets, including government contractor receivables.


Representative Matters

  • Represented a national financial company in its loss mitigation and REO disposition programs, including a series of deed-in-lieu transactions
  • Represented a public company and its subsidiaries in a secured senior credit facility
  • Represented a public company in a private debt issuance
  • Represented the lead bank in secured credit facilities, financing the leveraged buy-out of a government contractor
  • Represented a private financial company in its establishment of a loan platform to provide early-stage debt funding to government contractors
  • Represented a commercial lender in secured financing to Native American companies engaged in government contracting
  • Represented an international hospitality client in the acquisition of development sites for a new full-service product; work included coordinating entitlements required to develop the sites and assigning purchase agreements to the ultimate hotel owners
  • Represented a public company in a sale lease-back transaction of its corporate headquarters
  • Represented an owner in the sale of a 400,000 square foot corporate headquarters building, including negotiating and drafting a data center lease, a full building lease, and complex easements and declarations
  • Represented an international hospitality client in transactions to restructure its debt and equity interests in two luxury hotels – ultimately to sell those interests
